Question of the day!

Daily writing prompt
What’s the best way to build self-confidence?

I used to chronically suffer from a lack of self-confidence. The short answer to conquering this problem for me was, “How hard can it be?” my own personal version of the ubiquitous Nike catchphrase, “Just do it”.

The long answer is this: plunge in. Possibly do it badly, dust yourself off and try again. And again, and again, and again.

Sometimes my bridal clients ask me, often while I’m at their feet pinning the hem of their dress, “How do you not get nervous doing this?!?” And each time my answer is the same: “After the first couple hundred dresses, it gets easier.”

And the same holds true for anything else in life. Keep on doing something, and it becomes second nature. You can apply this concept to building self-confidence too. At the end of the day, I refuse to beat myself up and instead congratulate myself on believing in myself.

And remember, every person you come across in your daily life, is asking themselves this very same question. Some are better at it than others, some practice more, some practice less. Just do the next thing, and know that you’ve made it through as many days as you have with 100% survival rate.
