So there it is.
I have chosen to enrich a path that has always been hanging out in the wings for me. Over the years while busily carving out a career for myself, I have quietly performed weddings, memorials, and celebrations.

My first one was done when I was a newly ordained Chaplain in 2015. It was a wedding held at my local VFW hall, for two young adults I did not know. The commandant of the VFW chapter knew that I had recently graduated Chaplain training, and the couple were desperate for someone to perform their ceremony. So I did it! I quickly got to know the bride and groom a bit, wrote a sweet and simple ceremony, and found a suitable somber outfit befitting my very serious status.
It was a Superman themed wedding, catered by Portillo’s, home of the glorious Italian beef sandwiches and chocolate cake made with mayonnaise, and the bride and groom were delightful. This casual affair was a wonderful start for me-unbeknownst to them, I was very nervous, as this would be my first Very Important Serious Publicly Spoken Ceremony ever.
Looking back, I should have indulged in a shot with the bride as she suggested, and just went along for the ride. It was fun, it was goofy, and it went off without a hitch.
Over the years, my style has changed, I am more spiritual than churchy, and I love finding peoples love stories and the WHY of how they found out they wanted to marry and weaving that into a highly personalized, very touching ceremony for the couple. Celebrating that is the best part of the job for me!
All that to say, come visit my little Officiant/Celebrant stand in the spiritual marketplace and give me a holler if I can help you in any way!
